Eero, Aero, Iro, Gyro?

Sunday, June 22nd, 2008

A few days ago I was walking around with eero when a lady stopped us to coo at eero’s face melting cuteness. She asks me what his name is and I tell her. She gives me a confused look and says, “… like the sandwich?” I, in turn, also get very confused until I realized she thought I had named my dog gyro. I did not correct her.

Yes, eero is a barrel of roasted lamb. Kind of ironic.

Wet Hot American Summer

Friday, June 20th, 2008

Took eero to the vet today for a vaccine shot. He didn’t flinch at all for it, yay. Walked back from the vet in some seriously sunny weather. He was not having any of it. When we got back he gulped down water from the outside bowl and proceeded to lay down in it like he usually does.

Some weird perspective stuff going on here..

I found this slug sampling a rogue stool when I took eero out for his “final call before bed” toilet time. Delish. (Yes I need to get a life.)

Cuddletimez plz.

Eero Meets a Moose

Monday, June 16th, 2008

Eero met Kate’s puppy over the weekend. Well, not really a puppy — more like a horse of a newfoundland aptly named Moose.

Flagstaff and Fluffies

Sunday, June 15th, 2008

Eero and I went to Flagstaff Hill today to play. He chased me, turned his mobile waterbowl (a mini disposable pie pan) into a frisbee, ate a mushroom and vomited, and met a fluffy corgi named Miri. Fluffies are soooooooooooooo adorable. I originally wanted one but it seems like those are kind of hard to find, since they are trying to breed the fluffy gene out of corgis. Oh well, my shorthaired stink-pup sheds enough already and it’ll only get worse. The woes of loving black clothing!

Bell training, ur doing it wrong.

Saturday, June 14th, 2008

Eero’s gotten to the point where he’s relatively good at not peeing everywhere. The only problem is that sometimes I don’t notice when he walks to the kitchen door wanting to go outside to relieve himself, so he does it right outside the door instead. I am trying to change that by putting a bell on the door handle . The idea is that if he hits it, he goes outside to to his business. Not so simple.

Why hullo there.

One of the characteristics that corgis are known to have is their ability to “speak”. I attempted to test this hypothesis out by acting like a noise making fool. Results below.

I bet he’s telling me what a weirdo I am.

Paws?

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

When I first got eero, his paws were nearly completely pink. They have been turning more and more black. I don’t know if all puppies are like that, if some dogs have multicolored paws, or as they grow up and their feet endure an increasing amount of abuse they turn black and harden?

Designer pet shit… I mean stuff.

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

I will admit it, I like attractive things. Sure it’s superficial, but my excuse is that I am a designer supporting other designers. (Somebody needs to…)

The problem is that there is a lot of nasty and unattractive design in our culture, and pet accessory design is of no stranger to that flaw. Look at celebrities like Paris Hilton, or shows like Groomer Has It. Although arguably they themselves have well designed animal stuff, the trickle down effect is grossly muddy and stinky. For example, GlamourDog.com

So I feel bad when I say I’ve found one excessive dog accessory that I may indulge in.

Eero, Meet the Fish

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

While playing with eero on the deck yesterday, he got adventurous and started sniffing the perimeter and ended up on the rocks surrounding the fish pond. The next few moments were a blurry mass of hilarity.

The most silent of playfights.

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

I took eero to campus so he could have a larger area of shade to play in. He frolicked by himself for a little bit and was almost ready to fall into a snooze until this labradoodle pup arrived! The most silent of playfights then ensued.
